Fatal crash – Waitaki
Police can confirm one person has died following a crash in Omarama.
The two-vehicle crash on Twizel-Omarama Road was reported to Police at 10:19am yesterday.
Two others were flown to Dunedin Hospital, one in a critical condition and the other moderate.
Fatal crash – Melville, Hamilton
Police can confirm one person has died following a crash in Melville.
The two-vehicle crash on Ohaupo Road was reported to Police at 9:50am yesterday.
Arrest and charges in relation to fatal crash, State Highway 6, Queenstown
A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with Excess Blood Alcohol Causing Death, in relation to a fatal crash on State Highway 6, near Queenstown on December 16 2023.
He is due to appear in Queenstown District Court on 29 January. Further charges are under consideration.
‘We are unable to provide any further information while the matter is before the court,’ said police in a statement.
