Dominant scrum leads All Blacks to convincing win over Fiji

The All Blacks showcased their scrummaging prowess in a commanding 47-5 win over Fiji in San Diego.

Their dominant scrum and improved lineout performance laid the foundation for the win, allowing the team to control the game and introduce six new players to Test rugby.

The game saw notable contributions from Anton Lienert-Brown and debutant Billy Proctor, who formed a strong partnership in the midfield, with Proctor marking his debut with a try.

Replacement hooker George Bell also scored on his debut.

Fiji had a brief period of resurgence in the middle of the second half, providing valuable Test experience for the All Blacks’ substitutes. However, their efforts were undermined by missed tackles and a lack of precision near the try line.

The All Blacks capitalised on their possession advantage, leading 26-5 at halftime, and continued their dominance in the second half. Tries from Sevu Reece, Caleb Clarke, and Ethan de Groot, along with Bell’s debut try, sealed the victory.

Despite an injury to starting halfback Cortez Ratima, Noah Hotham’s effective debut ensured the All Blacks maintained their momentum throughout the match.
