Heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has withdrawn from his IBF world-title defense against Joseph Parker just two days before the fight, citing illness.
The 27-year-old Briton, who was set for his second title defense in Saudi Arabia, missed Thursday’s press conference before being officially ruled out.
His replacement, Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole, will now face Parker in a non-title bout.
The sudden change disrupts what was expected to be a major heavyweight clash, adding another unexpected twist to a high-profile fight card that also features Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol for the undisputed light-heavyweight championship.
Dubois’ withdrawal marks the second high-profile cancellation in what was billed as one of boxing’s greatest-ever events, leaving fans and organizers disappointed.
