Australian rugby player Kurtley Beale was found not guilty of sexual assault charges by a jury, following allegations relating to an incident in a Sydney pub’s bathroom in 2022.
Beale was acquitted of charges of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of sexual touching without consent after a brief deliberation period by the jury.
The allegations stemmed from an encounter at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel, where Beale was accused of inappropriately touching a woman and forcing her into a non-consensual sexual act.
The accuser testified that Beale followed her into the men’s toilet, exposed himself, and physically compelled her into oral sex, alongside claims of him touching her inappropriately before and during the incident.
Beale’s defense argued that the accuser was being manipulative and had fabricated the story. Following the verdict, Beale’s lawyer announced said he would apply for legal costs.
