Former England football forward and manager Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer following hospital investigations into ongoing abdominal symptoms, Newcastle United has confirmed.
The 74-year-old will undergo treatment after the diagnosis was identified during further medical evaluation.
Keegan is one of English football’s most decorated figures, enjoying trophy-filled playing careers with Liverpool and Hamburg, where he won league titles, European honours, and two European Footballer of the Year awards. After a stint at Southampton he later became synonymous with Newcastle United, both as a player and manager, famously guiding the club to a dramatic Premier League title challenge in 1995–96. Keegan also managed England from 1999 to 2000, earning a total of 63 caps as a player.
