Antonio Pierce has been dismissed as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders following a challenging 4-13 season that saw the team finish at the bottom of the AFC West.
The former Pro Bowl linebacker initially took over as interim head coach in 2023 before being appointed permanently for the 2024 season. Despite his efforts to instill a renewed sense of pride in the franchise, the Raiders opted to part ways after another underwhelming campaign.
Pierce’s departure follows the recent dismissals of Doug Pederson from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jerod Mayo from the New England Patriots after the end of the regular season.
In a statement, the Raiders acknowledged Pierce’s deep connection to the team: “Antonio grew up a Raiders fan, and his Silver and Black roots run deep. We are grateful for his ability to reignite what it means to be a Raider throughout the entire organisation.”
I appreciate Antonio Pierce.
Wishing him and his family nothing but the best in the future. #RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/LCsViy1RZl— JT The Brick (@JTTheBrick) January 8, 2025
