The British and Irish Lions are exploring negotiations with top French clubs to secure the early release of players, including Blair Kinghorn, Jack Willis, Ben White, and Kyle Sinckler, for their summer tour of Australia.
With the Top 14 final coinciding with the Lions’ first match against Western Force on 28 June, players involved in the final are unlikely to join the tour before the Waratahs game on 5 July.
Head coach Andy Farrell acknowledged the challenge of integrating France-based players and said discussions are ongoing.
While there is precedent for early release, French clubs have become increasingly protective of their talent.
Farrell also hinted at several captaincy contenders, including Caelan Doris, Maro Itoje, and Jac Morgan, while finalising his coaching staff setup.
