Defending champion Jannik Sinner advanced to the Australian Open final with a dominant 7-6 (7-2), 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ben Shelton, extending his impressive 20-match winning streak.
The 22-year-old world number one, who has been undefeated since October, will face Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final. Zverev, seeking his first major title, advanced after Novak Djokovic retired injured in their semi-final clash.
Sinner, the youngest man to reach multiple Australian Open finals since Jim Courier in 1993, overcame early challenges from Shelton, including saving two set points in the first set, before seizing control of the match.
The Italian now faces a tough battle against Zverev, who has won four of their six previous meetings, as he looks to defend his title amidst an ongoing doping case set for April.
