First-ever human recipient of pig kidney dies weeks after transplant

Rick Slayman news

The man’s death was allegedly not related to the modified pig kidney he received about two months before his demise.

Rick Slayman, a 62-year-old man from Massachusetts, passed away not long after becoming the first person in the world to receive a pig kidney transplant.

The transplant in question was no ordinary pig kidney but rather a genetically modified organ that had several pig genes removed and several human genes introduced to ensure compatibility with the host’s immune system.

Massachusetts General Hospital, where the procedure took place in March, said that there is no indication that Slayman’s death was caused by the transplant, CBS News has noted. No further indication of the cause of death was released.

“Mr. Slayman will forever be seen as a beacon of hope to countless transplant patients worldwide and we are deeply grateful for his trust and willingness to advance the field of xenotransplantation,” the hospital said in a statement, offering condolences to Slayman’s family and loved ones.

Prior to his demise, Slayman suffered from type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

  1. just like a car you repair with a second hand spare part.
If humanity accept that kind of ” progress”, don t moan about what some ” scientist” will do with your body (and mind).
    It has already started.
But still, we are all going to die sooner or later, whatever ” science” invent

  2. OR, Mr. Slayman could’ve eaten a healthy diet in his youth and avoided the whole procedure.
As a matter of fact, I was diagnosed with prediabetes at 68. I stopped eating sweets/starches and processed foods. Today I’m in the normal glucose range without medications.

    • A parasite disease damaged my kidneys. Therefore i was prescribed to add daily 1 tbl spoon of vinegar to the water i drink. It helped fighting the inflamation. Everybody should do it as in western society there is a lack of ” sour” in our diet.
It seems also to be good to prevent prostate problems when getting older.

  3. Would it be fair to say the transplant didn’t help this poor ,mans cause?…..I have real issues with anything GMO………..

  4. Lol, the “correlation does not equal causation” twits, up to their usual reality-denying nonsense.

“Just because he was playing marbles in the traffic, it doesn’t mean THAT was why he was run over.”

The same people who ridiculed antivaxers afraid of blood clots, strokes and cancer, now pretend to be baffled by all the blood clots strokes and cancer we’re seeing.

Messing around with genetics, even with the best of intentions, is a dangerous sh!t show. You put a pig kidney into the dude and he died, just own up to it.

For once in your lives just be accountable.

    • Medical corporation accountable ? in your dream. They would rather swallow their tongues than tell the truth
