U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents have launched an investigation into hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, conducting searches of his properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
This action is part of an inquiry led by New York’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, following a lawsuit filed against Combs by a former girlfriend, accusing him of sex trafficking. Combs, who denies the allegations, claiming innocence and suggesting the accusers are after money, has not commented further through his lawyer, Ben Brafman.
The investigation saw law enforcement raiding Combs’ Holmby Hills estate in Los Angeles, with reports of several detentions, although it’s unclear if any arrests were made. A similar search was executed at Combs’ Miami home, where agents were seen removing materials. The nature of the ongoing investigation wasn’t specified, but HSI’s scope includes combating illegal activities like sex trafficking.
The lawsuit at the centre of this investigation was filed by R&B singer Cassandra Ventura, who accused Combs of physical abuse, sexual slavery, and rape over a decade-long relationship. She claimed Combs forced her into sex acts with male prostitutes for his own gratification. Although Ventura and Combs settled the lawsuit confidentially, it’s one of at least four recent civil complaints alleging sexual assault against Combs. Despite the serious accusations and the legal actions taken, Combs has consistently denied all allegations, attributing them to attempts at financial extortion.
