Chantelle Baker settles defamation lawsuit with NZ Herald, launches new suit against Stuff and Kate Hannah

Independent journalist Chantelle Baker has settled her defamation lawsuit with NZ Herald and is now pursuing a second, more extensive legal battle against Stuff and researcher Kate Hannah.

In a recent tweet, Baker revealed that NZ Herald had offered a significant sum to settle the defamation case, which she accepted. The case, filed alongside Kate Hannah, stemmed from what Baker said were damaging and false statements made against her.

Baker has now filed a new defamation lawsuit focused on the discredited documentary “Fire & Fury”, produced by legacy media outlet Stuff, in which she alleges that both the publication and Hannah propagated false narratives aimed at discrediting her. According to Baker, these actions were part of a broader effort to manipulate public perception by casting her in a negative light.

“The constant lies and fabricated narratives to discredit me in order to maintain control of the public ends now,” Baker tweeted. She emphasised her determination to see this legal battle through to its conclusion and vowed to expose what she describes as so-called “disinformation experts” profiting from creating propaganda.

The Fire & Fury documentary has been at the centre of controversy since its release, with some critics claiming it unfairly targets individuals involved in anti-establishment or alternative media movements.

Baker’s tweet attracted a flood of support, with commenters congratulating her on the win and wishing her luck for the battle against Stuff and Hannah.

    • I was just thinking how wonderful it is to see our new leaders shining out from the pack while the old 💩ers reveal themselves and are jettisoned.
Lets all push together and we’ll have the country tidied up by Christmas.
Then we can really have a party. 😁👍

  1. I think she also laid charges to those two ho’s that ran over her car and smashed the windscreen quite aggressively. It’s theses acts which are presiceley being driven / influenced by such defamation and propaganda.

  2. The Disinformation Project, staffed by two parasitic wokers:
    Kate Hannah
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR of the DP:
Kate is a cultural historian of science and technology (WTH is a cultural historian?). She is one of two New Zealand representatives on the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Responsible AI Working Group (God help us all), and she was previously a Principal Investigator with Te Poura Martini, Aotearoa New Zealand’s Centre of Research Excellence for complex systems (ehm,..yeah, ..really. Run it past the DP.).
Katie is also a PhD candidate at the Centre for Science and Society at Te Herenga Fake – Victoria University of Wellington. Betcha a dalla Katie will pass (flatulence aside).
    Butt it gets better:
a Dr Sanjana Hattotuwa is RESEARCH DIRECTOR at the DP. Woohooo!
You gotta know, Sanjana is a world-leading academic with over two decadences of experience in studying and advising on information disorders, yeh yeah! His work at The Disinformation Project is grounded in mixed-methodology research and his knowledge of global best practice in dealing with disinformation. Wow! Godzone sooo lucky to have such an enlightened scholar from SriLanka coming to us, helping us understand us KIWIS!
Sanjoanna regularly works with social media companies on how they can strengthen platform integrity, better identify inauthentic behaviours and prevent the abuse of products (maaate, better be hush about that to polliticians. They don’t like to be called out).
So glad that there is an authority with such humanistic background and emerit standing to provide expertise even in platforms dealing with wartime ground conditions. His doctoral research at the University of Otago examined the intersection of social media, political communication, propaganda and information disorders in Sri Lanka, as well as how the Christchurch massacre in March 2019 was represented on Twatter.
    Oh mate!
Sanojanna sunnyboy, maaate, he got dosh from a Data for Good grant by Twatter, in partnership with the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (NCPACS). Is that a Soros NGO?
Aaanyways, so glad we have real experts here like Katie and Sano lookin after us, ay?
