The Blues have made one enforced change to their lineup for Friday night’s Super Rugby Pacific Semi Final against the ACT Brumbies at Eden Park.
Lock Sam Darry returns to the starting side, replacing captain Patrick Tuipulotu who is out with a knee injury. Consequently, Dalton Papali’i will assume the captaincy. Blues Head Coach Vern Cotter told the team’s website that he wanted them to stick to the basics, which have served the team well throughout the season, such as strong ball carries, breakdown efficiency, and smart decision-making.
The match will be particularly significant for Blues loose forward Akira Ioane, as it marks his final season with the team before heading overseas. Coach Cotter acknowledged Ioane’s leadership and the respect he commands within the squad.
The team aims to deliver a performance worthy of the occasion, hoping for a strong turnout and support from fans at Eden Park. The Blues are encouraging families to attend with tickets for children priced at just $10, aiming to create a vibrant and motivating atmosphere for this crucial knockout match.
