International team stages stunning comeback to tie with U.S. in Presidents Cup

The International team delivered a remarkable comeback on Friday at the Presidents Cup in Montreal, leveling the score 5-5 with the United States after dominating the foursomes.

Led by Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im, who equalled the competition’s largest victory by defeating Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele 7&6, the International side reversed the result from Thursday’s fourballs.

This session marked the first time the U.S. failed to win a single point since 2003. Key wins from Australia’s Adam Scott and Canada’s Taylor Pendrith, as well as Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes, helped fuel the turnaround.

Si Woo Kim and Byeong-Hun An’s clutch victory over world number one Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley solidified the Internationals’ momentum. Team captain Mike Weir praised his side for their resilience, stating that the comeback was fuelled by motivation and belief in turning the deficit around. With 20 points still available across the weekend and 15½ needed for an outright win, the competition remains wide open.
