Black Caps tour of India: Home side slumps to 46 All Out

In a shocking collapse on the second day of the rain-affected opening test, India was bowled out for a meager 46, their lowest-ever total on home soil and third-lowest in test history.

New Zealand’s pacers thrived in overcast conditions, with Matt Henry leading the charge with 5-15 and William O’Rourke, making his debut in India, taking 4-22.

The 46-run total set a new low for teams playing in India, eclipsing New Zealand’s previous record of 62 against the hosts in 2021.

After electing to bat first under challenging conditions, India’s top order was swiftly dismantled, with key wickets, including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Sarfaraz Khan, falling for ducks.

Despite a brief rain delay and some missed opportunities, New Zealand’s bowlers continued their onslaught, reducing India to 10-3 early on and wrapping up the innings shortly after lunch.
