A former mobile repair shop employee, who pleaded guilty to accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes after attempting to AirDrop a customer’s nude photographs, has had his application to become a security guard declined.

The incident, which occurred at Mobile Planet in Auckland, came to light after the customer received a failed AirDrop notification following repairs to her iPhone.

The confrontation was captured in a viral TikTok video.

Despite pleading guilty in court, the man’s application for a security license was rejected due to concerns about his integrity, with authorities citing the illegal and unethical nature of his previous actions.

He is set to be sentenced in February.
