Person critically injured in Auckland bus assault

A person has been critically injured following an assault on a bus in Auckland’s Onehunga suburb.

Emergency services, including one ambulance and three rapid response units from St John, responded to the scene at 2:29 p.m. today.

The victim was transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Police temporarily closed sections of Captain Springs Road and Church Street to manage the situation, urging motorists to avoid the area and anticipate delays.

Auckland Transport confirmed that the assault occurred on the number 74 bus service. A spokesperson for AT said, “We are working closely with the bus operator to support the driver and passengers who witnessed the incident.”
