A comprehensive inquiry into Australia’s Covid-19 response concluded that public trust was significantly “eroded” by what it described as “heavy-handed” measures and vaccine mandates, which the public may not accept in future pandemics.
Health Minister Mark Butler acknowledged the report as “thorough and measured,” supporting recommendations to rebuild public trust and to emphasise transparency.
The report, authored by “experts” including former NSW Health director Robyn Kruk and epidemiologist Catherine Bennett, criticised the government’s failure to explain the reasoning behind many restrictions, which, it found, led to the perception that the government didn’t trust the public to understand the complexities of pandemic guidance.
With vaccination rates plummeting across several diseases, including Covid-19, the report warned of potential “co-occurring outbreaks” that could overwhelm the healthcare system.
To counter this, it advised immediate action, recommending a “national strategy” to address reduced Covid vaccination rates and efforts to restore early childhood jabs.
The government also plans to establish an Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) with $251.7 million in funding, which will officially open in January 2026.
Butler said he was confident the CDC would bolster Australia’s “future preparedness”, stressing the importance of having a “high-level playbook” for “upcoming pandemics” and preparing for risks like so-called “Avian flu”.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton slammed the report as a “political hit job” meant to divert attention from other issues facing the Prime Minister.
He hinted at recent controversies surrounding Prime Minister Albanese but committed to reviewing the recommendations, stating that the Coalition would support “sensible policies.”
The inquiry, launched by Anthony Albanese in 2023, controversially did not require state leaders to testify, focusing instead on federal-level responses.

Public trust has “eroded” as everyone now knows someone who was adversely impacted through receipt of vaccine. This will inevitably filter through to the entire vaccine programme and the more the facts are swept under the mat, the higher the level of resistance for everything vaccine
The narrative’s of safe and effective and podium of truth have diminished public confidence. The lack of transparent reporting of adverse reactions, the Medical Council statement limiting Medical Professionals discussions with patients and the lack of proper informed consent will eventually come back to bite.
I would be surprised if New Zealand could find the expertise to create a CDC but this will make little to no difference in the public perception. Almost every individual who made the rules and gave their advice has moved on from their roles, clearly not wanting to face the music. So too, the public have turned away on the premise of “no confidence”.

Some countries have actually banned mammograms quite recently (Switzerland?) because they found that they can actually increase the chance of breast cancer: Squashing breast tissue between two metal plates can damage delicate glands in the breast that can then develop tumors, and if that isn’t enough, dosing a breast with radiation could get you. And from memory here, but there was a correlation between breast cancer and women who had had mammograms about 5 years before and that is what caused the ban.
I read a while ago and I cannot remember the name, but it was a highly qualified recently retired surgeon that said, “Unless you think you are dying, do not go to a doctor or hospital.”

My enquiry findings after extensive research
There is only one way to restore public trust in government as regards the vaccines and that is “The Mark Plan”:
(1) Governments obey the Nuremburg Protocol, specifically no coercion to take the vaccine in any domain – company (whether local or international) or pleasure (cinema, restaurant, theatre, nightclub, bar).
(2) HCQ and IVM available from pharmacies without prescription – i.e. anybody can then buy HCQ or IVM: You might find IVM also cues other things like some forms of cancer.
I donate this plan for free to the NZ government and hope that they implement it.
