A former top New Zealand athlete has been sentenced to 18 months of intensive supervision after pleading guilty to posting intimate images without consent and threatening to share explicit photos of a woman online.
Judge Tony Greig, who presided over the sentencing, issued a stark warning, stating, “The starting point for this is prison… Don’t expect any mercy” if the abuse continues.
The man, whose name is temporarily suppressed until December 20, must also pay $3,000 in emotional harm reparation to the victim, delete the images from his phone, and comply with the conditions of his sentence.
