Scientists warn humanity is unprepared for massive volcanic eruption

Earth faces a one-in-six chance of a massive volcanic eruption this century, with scientists cautioning that humanity remains alarmingly unprepared for such an event.

Experts point to the catastrophic 1815 Mount Tambora eruption, which unleashed 24 cubic miles of gases, dust, and rock into the atmosphere, as a stark warning of the potential devastation. That eruption caused widespread crop failures, famine, and disease, leading to tens of thousands of deaths and earning the period the grim nickname “Year Without a Summer.”

Modern research indicates that the fallout from a similar event today could be even more severe. Advances in atmospheric modeling suggest that sulfur dioxide gas and sulfate aerosols from a large-scale eruption would spread rapidly, amplifying global cooling effects.

Volcanic particles, which efficiently scatter sunlight, could lead to significant temperature drops, disrupting agriculture and ecosystems worldwide.

Despite the risks, experts like Dr. Markus Stoffel of the University of Geneva told GB News that there are uncertainties surrounding such scenarios, urging more investment in understanding and preparing for the potential consequences of a major volcanic event.

  1. Or, a nuke dropped down the volcanic vent?
Vinny Eastwood mentioned a rumour some years ago that the PTB had investigated opening-up the Taupo Super-Volcano with a nuke on the floor of Lake Taupo, but the plan was exposed and never carried out!
I wonder what (IF any) devices the PTB will use to set-off the Hikorangi Fault Line off the east coast of North Island, or the Alpine Fault for that matter…
Let’s see IF Trump stops the attack on humanity and the attack on the environment.
After all, he did ‘Operation Warp Speed’ when he was #45…!
