Britain’s Emma Raducanu suffered a crushing 6-1, 6-0 defeat to world number two Iga Swiatek in the Australian Open third round, marking the joint-heaviest loss of her career.
In just 70 minutes on Rod Laver Arena, Swiatek’s superior athleticism and precision overwhelmed Raducanu, who struggled with errors and lost serve five times.
While Raducanu’s preparations were hampered by injury, she had shown grit in earlier rounds but was unable to cope with Swiatek’s relentless pressure.
Swiatek, a three-time French Open winner, remains unbeaten in the tournament, highlighting her form as a title contender.
Raducanu, still recovering from surgeries and working her way back into form, will aim to build on her Melbourne Park run.
