Caledonian Road by Andrew O’Hagan

In this compelling novel, five interconnected families navigate their fluctuating fortunes. Campbell Flynn, an art historian and renowned biographer of Vermeer, always knew that his life’s unraveling would be a public spectacle. However, he couldn’t foresee that a single year in London would lay bare so much. His entanglement with a brilliant student marks the beginning of troubles that ripple through his family and friends.

As Flynn’s worlds converge—spanning the art scene, academia, fashion, the English aristocracy, journalism, and the internet—dangerous forces begin to infiltrate his life, revealing the hidden secrets of Caledonian Road. Andrew O’Hagan masterfully crafts a social novel in the Victorian tradition, drawing together a diverse cast of characters to illuminate the complexities of contemporary life.

“Not only a peerless chronicler of our times, O’Hagan has generosity, humour, and tenderness, which make this novel an utter joy to read.”―Monica Ali, author of Love Marriage and Brick Lane
