Djokovic takes a stand against broadcaster over disrespect to Serbian fans

Novak Djokovic has chosen to boycott on-court interviews at the Australian Open until he receives an apology from Nine Network, citing reporter Tony Jones’s disrespectful remarks about Serbian fans and himself.

Djokovic explained that his protest was directed at the broadcaster, not the fans or interviewer Jim Courier, following Jones’s mocking comments, including labelling Djokovic “overrated” and a “has-been.”

Despite receiving boos after skipping the customary interview following his victory over Jiří Lehečka, Djokovic said he wanted to stand up against the broadcaster’s lack of accountability.

Willing to accept fines for his decision, Djokovic maintained his focus on the tournament.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion now prepares for a highly anticipated quarterfinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz.
