CBS/YouGov poll shows strong public support for Trump’s policies after Congressional address

Donald Trump polls news

In the wake of President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated address to Congress, a new CBS News/YouGov poll reveals high levels of public approval for his policies and leadership.

The poll indicates that a majority of Americans support Trump’s key initiatives, with particularly high ratings on government spending, border security, and his overall speech performance.

According to the survey, 77% of respondents support Trump’s plan to cut government waste and spending, signaling widespread approval for fiscal responsibility as a cornerstone of his policy platform. A similar 77% back his immigration and border policies, reinforcing the public’s continued focus on border security and immigration control.

Trump’s speech itself received high marks, with 76% of those polled approving of his address. Additionally, 74% described his speech as presidential, a figure that suggests many Americans saw his delivery and content as befitting the office. The speech’s impact extended beyond perception, with 68% saying it made them feel hopeful and proud.

The poll also revealed support for Trump’s stance on key international and domestic issues. 73% approve of his position on Russia and Ukraine, a contentious foreign policy issue. Meanwhile, 68% believe he accurately described America’s crime crisis, reflecting concerns about public safety and law enforcement. Similarly, 68% say Trump has a clear plan to tackle inflation, a major economic issue affecting households across the country.

One of the more controversial moments of the address occurred when some congressmen interrupted Trump during his speech. However, the public reaction appears to align with the president’s response, as 76% of those surveyed support removing congressmen who disrupted the event.

Perhaps most importantly, 63% of respondents said Trump focused on the issues they care about, indicating that his speech resonated with the concerns of everyday Americans.

With these strong approval ratings, Trump appears to have reinforced his political standing among supporters and possibly broadened his appeal, some commentators say.
