Storm overpower error-prone Eels in scrappy Super Saturday clash

The Melbourne Storm have secured consecutive NRL victories after defeating the Parramatta Eels 8-34 in an at-times chaotic but entertaining Super Saturday encounter.

Both teams entered the match carrying momentum from important wins the previous round, with Parramatta coming off a dramatic comeback victory in Townsville and Melbourne ending a seven-game losing streak against the Wests Tigers.

Despite a mistake-riddled performance from both sides, the Storm proved far more clinical when opportunities emerged. Melbourne’s completion rate dipped to 70 per cent while the Eels managed 77 per cent, but the class of Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Sua Faalogo ultimately separated the teams.

Munster and Grant both crossed for tries, while Faalogo produced several electric attacking moments and set up teammates as the Storm mixed spectacular attacking play with periods of untidy football to comfortably pull away in front of a strong crowd.
