South Africa maintained their unbeaten Nations Championship campaign with a commanding 49-0 victory over Wales in Durban, running in seven tries to secure a bonus point despite resting several senior stars, including Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe and Eben Etzebeth.
Tries from Jasper Wiese, Cobus Reinach, Jesse Kriel, Jaco Williams, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Herschel Jantjies and Paul de Villiers underlined the Springboks’ dominance as they extended their winning streak to 11 matches and strengthened their hold on the world number one ranking. Wales failed to score for the second consecutive meeting with South Africa, leaving the aggregate score across the past two clashes at 116-0.
The result leaves the Springboks unbeaten after victories over England, Scotland and Wales, while Wales ended Steve Tandy’s first season in charge with nine defeats from 12 Tests following losses to Fiji, Argentina and South Africa.
