South Africa held off a late All Blacks fightback to claim a 33-26 victory before a capacity crowd of around 60,000 at DHL Stadium, levelling the four-Test series 1-1.
The Springboks led 24-14 at halftime after tries to Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende and Siya Kolisi, while New Zealand responded through Cam Roigard and Damian McKenzie. Cheslin Kolbe’s accurate boot proved decisive after the break, with a series of penalty goals stretching the hosts’ advantage to 30-14.
The All Blacks nevertheless outscored South Africa four tries to three, with Leroy Carter and captain Ardie Savea crossing late to reduce the deficit to seven points, but the Springboks closed out the contest 33-26. The series now moves to Johannesburg for the third Test next weekend.
