Man charged after Glenfield stabbing

A man will appear in court today following an assault in Glenfield.

Emergency services responded to Glenfield Road after 5.30pm on Wednesday.

“A scuffle has occurred between two people outside a business on Glenfield Road, when the older man allegedly stabbed the other,” Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie, of Waitematā CIB, says.

“The victim, who is a teenager, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.”

A 21-year-old man was taken into custody a short time after Police arrival on scene.

He has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in the North Shore District Court today.

“The victim has since undergone surgery overnight and has been spoken to by Police. He remains in a stable condition,” Acting Detective Inspector Goldie says.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the wider community.”
