Christchurch dancer Tamison Soppet, 15, has been chosen to compete at the prestigious 2026 Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, joining 80 top young dancers from around the world in one of ballet’s most influential competitions.
Describing the event as “the Ballet Olympics,” Soppet says the opportunity offers unparalleled access to masterclasses, coaching, and international visibility that can launch a professional career. Her selection follows years of disciplined training at Convergence Dance Studios, supported by family, friends, and teachers.
With the competition set for February, she is now focused on perfecting her technique and performance as she prepares to take the stage at the Beaulieu Theatre.
