Southland based singer songwriter Sadie Wech was inspired to write her debut single ‘You and I”, after being engaged to sing at a wedding.
Sadie reflects…“Always having a hopeless romantic heart, I wanted to surprise them with a song. I love how sometimes you can’t express the emotions you feel and can’t seem to put it into words, but somehow in song form it is able to be expressed.”
“You and I” is all about feeling at home with your person. It shares the journey of two people in love, and how their love changes, grows and evolves over time. But no matter what happens, how much time has passed, wherever you are, your person is your home. Your person is all you need.
Sadie proudly pocketed the coveted 2024 MLT NZ Gold Guitar Awards Solo Female Artist Award for this song! “Music and singing has been a huge part of my life growing up. My dad’s side of the family is quite musical, with my Granny being trained classically as an opera singer and being trained by the same lady who coached Kiri Te Kanawa.“
Sadie grew up in a small, rural farming community in Southland with her 4 younger siblings. She currently lives in Arrowtown, having her own business, doing massage therapy and biomechanics. “I have always loved how the body works and love helping people be able to live their life without limits by getting to the root cause.”
“Music and singing has been a huge part of my life growing up throughout primary and secondary school. This includes leads in musicals, rock quests, variety shows, gold guitars, anything to do with music I did it. Ever since I was little, becoming a singer was always such a big dream, being able to write music that people can relate to and make people feel something. I hope all of my music will do that for you.”
