An inquest has revealed that 11-year-old Falaq Babar, who died in hospital three weeks after collapsing at her family home, was punched by her adult half-brother, Suhail Mohammed.
Despite Mohammed’s admission in text messages to his girlfriend, he will not face prosecution. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided against pursuing charges due to complex medical evidence suggesting Falaq might have had an underlying condition. Falaq’s parents also refused police access to her younger siblings, who were present during the incident, complicating the investigation.
Falaq collapsed on February 20, 2022, and died from a brain bleed on March 18. The inquest heard conflicting accounts of the incident, with Mohammed initially claiming Falaq had slipped but later admitting to punching her in the head.
Despite sufficient evidence, the CPS did not proceed with manslaughter charges. The inquest is examining whether the punch, a coincidental medical episode, or the force of the bathroom door led to Falaq’s collapse. The proceedings continue as the coroner investigates the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.
Can’t we just have an honest judiciary ffs! But we know why of course this is allowed.
