An employee of Fullers is under police investigation after being accused of fraudulently refunding ferry tickets to herself over several years.
The alleged scheme involved the use of multiple identities and the accounts of unsuspecting colleagues to process refunds, which she then pocketed. This led to the wrongful accusation and distress of innocent staff members, who were falsely implicated in the thefts.
The employee’s employment ended abruptly last month after the fraud was uncovered, though it is unclear whether she was fired or resigned. Reports suggest she may have left the country following the revelation.
Fullers has declined to comment on the specifics of the case, citing confidentiality surrounding employment relations.
The police have confirmed they are investigating the historic fraud allegations. The Maritime Union of New Zealand stated that the incident does not involve any of its members, and Auckland Transport clarified that the matter is internal to Fullers and does not affect their services. The investigation is ongoing.
