Samuel David Jacobson, a 46-year-old unemployed man from Bendigo, was sentenced to five years in prison with a non-parole period of two years and six months in the County Court of Victoria after a jury found him guilty of rape and sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl with an intellectual disability.

The offenses occurred on September 1, 2023, in Batman Park near Southern Cross Station, where Jacobson—having met the victim at a Bendigo bus stop the previous month and exchanged numbers—kissed her without warning, made comments about wanting a baby, covered her with a blanket, touched her breasts and genitals despite her pleas to stop and cries of pain, and raped her while she resisted.
The girl, accompanied by her support dog, reported the incident immediately to station staff.
Jacobson denied the assault but was convicted after a seven-day trial.
At the time he was on bail for unrelated charges.
