An unidentified 15 year old student has been stood down pending an investigation following shocking footage of him punching a teacher in the face.
The male victim appeared to be in his late 50s or 60s and was knocked off balance in the brutal surprise attack.
In a video widely shared on social media the student, who is much taller than the teacher, pleads for the return of his mobile phone. It appears the teacher has confiscated it for some reason. But when the teacher refuses the teenage assailant lands a powerful right hand flush on the teacher’s jaw.
The video abruptly ends as shocked students react to the violence.
The assault took place at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas and the footage has been shared around on social media, causing parents concern. The principal sent them a letter stating, ‘Administrators will be looking into the cause of the altercation and continue to evaluate ways to prevent these occurrences in the future.’
Neither the student or the teacher have been publicly named, and both refused to comment when approached by local media.
