Tanner Lynn Horner has been charged with the kidnap and murder of 7 year old Texas girl Athena Strand.
Authorities confirmed today that new charges have been laid against Horner relating to separate child sex allegations for events which occured in 2013.
Strands body was found on 2 December, less than 10 miles from her hometown of Paradise, Texas, after Horner lead investigators to the site. Horner admitted abducting the child from her home while delivering a parcel for her father. The parcel contained barbie dolls, intended to be the girl’s Christmas present for the year.
According to the arrest warrant, Horner told investigators he strangled the 7-year-old after accidentally hitting her with his van while making a delivery at her father’s home. He said Strand wasn’t seriously hurt after he hit her while backing up, but he panicked and put her in his van.
Horner said the girl was talking to him and told him her name, according to the warrant. But the driver said he didn’t want her to tell her father what happened, so he first tried to break the girl’s neck and when that didn’t work, he strangled her with his hands in the back of the van, the warrant said.
Investigators confirmed Tanner has been charged with three counts of sexual assault on a child in respect of an unrelated party in Fort Worth, Texas.
