Pete North, a 47-year-old blogger from North Yorkshire, was arrested late Thursday under Section 19 of the Public Order Act after posting an image on social media containing the words “f*** Hamas.”
Police accused the post of potentially stirring up racial hatred, though North argued his criticism targeted Hamas as a proscribed terrorist group, not a race.
He was detained overnight, interviewed in Harrogate, and later released without charge. North has since criticised the police for heavy-handed tactics, questioning their awareness of current events, and raising concerns about the treatment of people with neurological conditions during such arrests.
North has a form of Tourette’s and related autistic traits. During his arrest and time in the police van, he said he experienced what he described as an “autism episode” brought on by claustrophobia and stress.
I need everyone to share this for me.
This is Pete North, lives in my neck of the woods, nice as can be.
Arrested in the middle of the night, handcuffed and searched then put in the back of a van and then a police cell all night and questioned. For a tweet.

F***, f***, f***, f*** the UK police and Starmer ( he might like it though 🤪)
Shame on those police. If they all stood up and told “their boss” they weren’t going to do it this madness would stop.
If this shite ever comes here we all need to come out and say they thing that gets people arrested they can’t arrest the lot of us and if they do well expect a parliament protest ON STEROIDS.
Riiiiight, when were you last rebellious?
Beat the UK stazi by everyone posting it.
