Alliance Group has proposed shutting down its 139-year-old Smithfield meatworks in Timaru, citing a significant drop in sheep processing numbers.

The decision, which could result in a large number of redundancies, will be finalised by October 18 following a consultation period with workers.

While Alliance has committed to offering redeployment opportunities at other plants where possible, many employees face an uncertain future. The company’s chief executive, Willie Wiese told state media there was a need to scale down operations in response to livestock availability, aiming to optimize cost structures and align with market demands.

Timaru Mayor Nigel Bowen acknowledged the heavy impact this would have on the local economy, as the plant employs over 600 people during peak season.

  1. More proof-positive that the Talmudic Zionist Masonic NWO stooges are now orchestrating a new pattern of Holodomor / Starvation just as in the U.S. and Europe by shutting down or burning food processing plants!!!

  2. 600 more people out of work, while the orcs will continue to be imported.

    Bye bye median wage 📉
