Angry Andy strikes again: Little accused of bullying volunteer at Wellington Mayoral debate

Angry Andy news

Andrew Little’s mayoral campaign has been hit with controversy after claims he angrily confronted a volunteer and grabbed private notes belonging to rival candidate Ray Chung during a Wellington debate.

‘Independent Together’ volunteer Rhonda Fitzpatrick told The Platform she prepared campaign notes for Chung ahead of the Stuff-hosted mayoral debate on Brandon Street earlier this week. During the event, she says Little reached across the table, took the private notes and began reading them aloud, despite protests. “They were private notes… he just pinched them,” Fitzpatrick said, describing how she tried to retrieve the material only for Little to pull away and continue reading.

The incident escalated after the debate, according to Fitzpatrick, when Little allegedly “bailed up” her and made heated remarks. Better Wellington, a civic group opposing party politics in local elections, called the behaviour bullying and accused Little of “reverting to the Angry Andy type”. In a post on X the group demanded that political strategist Neale Jones release a video of the confrontation, writing: “Angry Andy has returned to type and is bullying and intimidating civic-minded volunteers. RELEASE THE VIDEO!!”

Critics say the episode underscores long-standing concerns about Little’s temperament, with Fitzpatrick calling it an example of intimidation against grassroots campaigners. With Wellington’s economy and governance already under scrutiny, the clash has injected fresh tension into a mayoral race already mired in claims of “dirty tricks” and heavy party machinery influence.

  1. Hes an AH alright
    Don’t worry about that
Andrew Little oversaw the covid panademic response
In February 2022, a Taranaki engineer named Brett Power publicly claimed he was initiating a citizen’s arrest of then–Health Minister Andrew Little, accusing him of “culpable murder” under the Crimes Act 1961.
The claim was tied to the tragic death of Rory Nairn, a Dunedin man who died from myocarditis after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in 2021.
However, legal experts and New Zealand Police swiftly clarified:
The Crimes Act does not permit citizen’s arrests for such retrospective accusations.
“Culpable murder” was misinterpreted, and no arrest warrants were issued.
The claim was amplified by Counterspin media , but lacked legal grounding.

  2. This is the power-drunk behaviour of someone who clearly doesn’t fear election results. I wonder what he’s been promised and by whom 🤔

  3. Andrew Little – does that not say it all. Ask him how he feels about formerly being part of a Govt. that violated the Nurmberg Codes. Then tell him to go and hide under a crap covered rock somewhere – preferably not in NZ.

  4. What an arrogant prick, who does he think he is? Just grabbing something that clearly doesn’t belong to him in that fashion…what a bully, should’ve tipped the glass of water in his face.
