Four men have been arrested following a brutal assault in Gisborne last month.
A man was beaten in his Riverdale home on 19 November by a group of people, suffering serious injuries.
‘This was an incredibly appalling level of violence inflicted on this 61-year-old man, and it is relieving to finally have some justice for the crime,’ said said Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Moorhouse.
‘The wife was left traumatized in her own home after witnessing the incredibly appalling level of violence inflicted on her husband.’
The victim is still in hospital in a stable condition and slowly improving each day.
‘Due to some very good work by Gisborne Criminal Investigation Branch, four men aged between 20 and 28 have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and burglary.’
Two men appeared in Gisborne District Court yesterday and two men are still due to appear in court – one this week, and the other in early January.
‘Thank you to those who came forward with information that helped in our investigation and location of these men.’
