An Auckland primary school teacher, who pleaded guilty to sexually grooming an 11-year-old student and performing an indecent act on him, had her sentencing adjourned in the North Shore District Court.
The teacher, whose name is suppressed, admitted to sending nude photos to the student via Snapchat, messaging him on Instagram and Google Docs, and encouraging him to ask her out, leading to a “dating” relationship.
She kissed the boy, held his hand during park walks, and slept in his bed, while repeatedly urging him to keep their interactions secret. Facing up to three years for grooming and 10 years for the indecent act, the sobbing teacher was granted a bail adjournment, with sentencing rescheduled for July, as the victim’s family and school community attended the hearing.
Lock her up in a psychiatric ward.
