A snorkeler reported missing off the coast of Kaikōura was tragically found deceased by rescue crews.
Authorities were notified around 4:50 p.m. yesterday when the man failed to return from his snorkeling trip, about 30 minutes overdue. Sadly, his body was discovered in the water around 6 p.m.
Support is being offered to the man’s family during this difficult time.
Police expressed their gratitude to all involved in the search, including Coastguard Kaikōura volunteers. The case has been referred to the Coroner for further investigation.
