Daman Kumar granted NZ residency

Daman Kumar news
Daman Kumar (Inset).

Daman Kumar, an 18-year-old who faced deportation to India despite having lived in New Zealand his entire life, has been granted residency following a review by Associate Immigration Minister Chris Penk.

However, Kumar’s parents, who have overstayed in New Zealand for 24 years, will still be required to leave.

His 22-year-old sister remains lawfully in the country due to earlier citizenship laws.

  1. I wonder if soft NZ Immigration will now grant residency to Kumar’s parent’s now that their “anchor baby” now has residency.

  2. As it should be…
Since Kumar has been in NZ all of his life, will this make him eligible for NZ Citizenship immediately, or will he too have to wait 5 years before applying?
& yet, PeterThiel (J3wi$h) was granted NZ Citizenship by former J3wi$h PM John Key in just 5 days, by bringing the Planitir spying systems to NZ.
In Australia, this consideration should also apply to the Aussie 501 Kiwi-by birth deportees who have lived there all of their lives…!
