Former Green Party MP Darleen Tana is challenging her forced resignation from the party in a judicial review at the Auckland High Court.
Tana resigned in March after an investigation suggested she likely knew about worker exploitation at her husband’s business but did not disclose it.
Her lawyer Sharyn Green argued Green Party’s co-leaders, Chlöe Swarbrick and Marama Davidson acted unlawfully by pushing Tana to resign without following the party’s constitution. Green contends that Tana was unjustly “ejected” and that the party’s constitution does not allow members to be judged by the actions of their spouses.
The hearing is ongoing.

Let us never forget, the Green party was part of the last government who put us into a financial crisis, borrowed so much money our children’s children will be paying it off.
