A forensic pathology technician in training to conduct homicide autopsies has lost his medical registration after sharing a dissected human skull image online and making graphic social media posts glorifying cannibalism, decapitation and abuse.
The man, whose name is suppressed, posted disturbing comments on Discord and Instagram while working in a mortuary, also engaging in conversations about sexualising children, drug use and explosives.
An anonymous tip in 2023 led to an investigation that uncovered 65 images and screenshots of his posts, including claims he had personally decapitated someone and could steal human organs.
Although he initially denied responsibility, he later attributed his behaviour to “mental health issues”.
The Health Practitioner’s Disciplinary Tribunal ruled his conduct “grotesque, repugnant and immoral,” saying he breached the dignity and cultural safety owed to the deceased, and cancelled his registration while ordering $20,000 in costs.
