Police encourage people celebrating New Year’s Eve to enjoy themselves, but to be sensible, look after your mates and make sure everyone gets home safely, says Acting Commissioner of Police Glenn Dunbier.
‘There will be a strong Police presence in traditional holiday hotspots across the country tonight, focused on prevention and helping those celebrating to stay safe.
‘We all have a responsibility to ensure our friends and loved ones are safe this summer, so keep an eye out and report any concerns you have.
‘If you feel unsafe or have concerns about dangerous, illegal or suspicious behaviour, call Police on 111.’

The police are a joke. Stand up and do your bloody job and stop being puppets for the prime minister. Get some bloody balls. Stop the crime, that’s what you’re paid for, now do it or find a new job.

Police lost my respect at the parliament protests. Showed your true colours you weak minded sheep. I would be thinking twice before EVER asking our police to help me. As for many low-level cops: Thank you for your service, but always maintain critical thinking. “I just followed orders” will not be enough.
