Labour leader Chris Hipkins has defended not sharing advice on the risks of two vaccine doses for under-18s during the Covid ‘pandemic’.
He said medical information was communicated by health practitioners, not ministers. The advice, from the Covid-19 Vaccine Technical Advisory Group, warned of a potential “unnecessary risk” of myocarditis after a second dose. It was first outlined in December 2021. Hipkins became aware of it in March 2022. At that time, tens of thousands of 12 to 17-year-olds had yet to receive a second dose. Most in the age group had already been vaccinated.
Winston Peters and Health Minister Simeon Brown questioned why the information was not made public. Peters accused Hipkins of misleading the Royal Commission and Parliament.
Speaking to legacy media, Hipkins rejected claims of a cover-up. He said ministers fully cooperated with the inquiry. He also said the failure for the advice to reach ministers earlier was a “massive failing” of the system. He claimed myocarditis cases in this age group were ‘very rare’ and that by March 2022 most mandates were already in place or about to be lifted.

However, a newly surfaced Cabinet paper, uncovered by NZ Herald senior writer Derek Cheng, showed that information was provided to ministers. The paper, in Hipkins’ name, was presented to a Cabinet committee meeting in late March.
Speaking on Friday, Hipkins said he had forgotten about that particular Cabinet paper, but any suggestions of a cover-up were “just utterly wrong”.
“The government never received the advice when those decisions were being made.”
“I’m not a health practitioner,” he said. “I think it was appropriate that we left that to the relevant health officials.”
Wow. So this is what we are supposed to believe, that Hipkins just forgot about this particular cabinet paper, it’s right up there with forgetting butter when you go to the supermarket. “Sorry, I forgot the butter I guess we can’’t put butter on the toast in the morning” “Sorry, I forgot about the paper about myocarditis in teens, I guess the negative consequences of your child’s health is going to be permanent .“
As for never receiving the advise, you only have to go back to the endless open letters and emails made by so many individuals including Guy Hatchard on multiple occasions to all MPs. Thank you Guy by the way.

As for Peters questioning why the information was not made public. That is a very good question Mr Peters, you also had this information. Why didn’t YOU make it public?

Hipkins ardern and all the others associated with the vaccine roll out are responsible for this debacle and for the many people who have suffered awful consequences for getting that crap injected into their body. They need to face up.

Everyone focused on 12-17 year olds because of elevated risk, but the thing is, everyone was exposed to myocardial risk and nobody was told. Ask yourself how old was Rory? Just because there was clear advice for 12-17 year Olds doesn’t mean we shouldn’t also be up in arms about everyone’s exposure risk…informed consent…
Anyone who was worth their salt would have done the basic research and environmental scanning that highlighted this risk well before mandates were introduced. It’s arguably a failure on the part of officials whether it was failing to identify this obvious information or to pass this to Ministers on the documented record. We all know Ministers will weasel words out of things or “forget” papers they approved. God knows why anyone would want to vote anyone back in with such a terrible memory…
