Hipkins says ‘entire government’ must resign

Chris Hipkins news

Labour leader Chris Hipkins has refused to join former finance ministers Ruth Richardson and Roger Douglas in calling for Finance Minister Nicola Willis to resign, instead insisting “the whole government needs to resign” after fresh data showed the economy shrinking again.

While Prime Minister Christopher Luxon defended Willis as the “best person” for the job, Hipkins accused the government of making the economy worse and shifting blame onto global factors.

Richardson and Douglas urged a “reset” through “spending cuts”, but Hipkins dismissed their proposals as failed economic orthodoxy, saying Labour would only release policies once it could be certain they were deliverable.

  1. Chippie mate you are totally out of order. If anybody in the current Govt. needs to resign it is you first and foremost top of the list. Best you do it right now and then NZ will be a far better place. You dont think for one micro second we the NZ public are ever ever ever ever ever going to trust forget or forgive you in your role in the previous Labour Govt. that paid off the parents of young innocent children whom died straight after being jabbed. Do you ? You moron, that ‘Plandemic Scam’ that you and your Govt. got bribed to push and mandate on an unsuspecting and trusting NZ public was a greed based mortal sin. You and your Govt. knew full well those jabs were dangerous untested and harmful. Thats when the line was crossed into Infanticide Genocide. You were right there as Deputy PM when you and your Govt. violated the Nuremberg Codes. That stain will always be there Chippie it will never ever ever ever ever ever go away. Its in the souls of those poor innocent young deceased children whom lives that you and your corrupt Govt. snatched away for all of your Political ambitions. What goes around comes around Chippie and if you and the NZ Public have to be reminded every day of you and your previous Govts. criminality then so be it.

    • It’s the pressure of staying the course to cover their tracks so they wont be found out, it really is life or death for these people. They don’t need to fear us anti-vaxers; they fear the people who did take the vax finding out what they really took. Only an easily led mob would do that, and an easily led mob can be very dangerous.

  2. What we need is massive spending cuts, cuts to state staffing and funding of NGO,s, those who lose their jobs will easily find another because they will just take the jobs of the people who the government has and wants to bring in on visas.

Labor will not do any of that; they will just raise more taxes.

  3. The government is rogue, not for the people who pay the taxes, the government has revealed it’s intentions as working for another power. Time to clean out all of the politicians, MPs, turn away from this other power, gather taxes into we the people holdings for health, education and all public expenses. Form we the people run decision groups and gatherings. Rebuild communities for the people. Give our light and power back to us and our families. We the people are more than capable

  4. Neither Labour or National have been good for New Zealand’s economy. Why would I vote for either? To my mi d best thing they both could do is disband and do us all a favour.

  5. Everything will be fixed once the OCR drops to 2.5%, house prices jump 15%. Construction industry gets kick start. Need an economic boost going into the next election.

    • With each household in NZ owning $145000 because of excessive borrowing by National and Labour and since June 2023, per-person GDP down by 3.9 percent. Yeah, I DONT THINK SO!

      • Yes right on I think NZ is on the brink of becoming the basket case of the South Pacific. Excessive borrowing by the Govt. is driving down the NZ dollar and devaluing it. Using house prices for wealth instead of manufacturing output production and exports is always a bad idea. The current batch of Pollies are only there for themselves not the people of NZ. Mortgagee sales are increasing as well as defaults on loans. I reckon a real catastrophic crash of the NZ housing market is approaching around the next corner and will create a homeless nation. There is an old adage if you keep increasing house prices to unrealistic levels then sooner or later it will become question of who are you going to sell it to ?
