42-year-old Northamptonshire mum Lucy Connolly has been released from Peterborough Prison after serving more than a year behind bars for a social media post, sparking renewed criticism of Britain’s justice system.
Her husband, Conservative councillor Raymond Connolly, condemned U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer for defending her sentence, saying their 12-year-old daughter suffered most during her absence.
“Well done to Starmer for making it so difficult for a girl of 12,” he said. “Let’s all give him a pat on the back. It will be good to have her home. We are thankful for the support. Our focus will be to try to sort out our lives and for my wife to reconnect with our daughter.”
Reform UK’s Richard Tice also attacked the prosecution as politically motivated, calling Connolly’s imprisonment unjust and highlighting her alleged assault in prison. “She should never have been inside in the first place,” said Tice.
Connolly may soon attend Westminster as a guest of honour during a debate on Independent MP Rupert Lowe’s petition calling for a review of the penalties imposed for social media posts, directly prompted by Connolly’s case. Her presence would highlight what critics describe as the unfairness of her prosecution and sentencing, and it would be used to press the Government and Starmer on claims of a “two-tier justice system.”

She was jailed following a social media post made on 29 July 2024, the day three girls were murdered in Southport, where she called for “mass deportation now” and urged followers to “set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the bastards”.

Utterly disgusting but then what can you expect from the elected dictatorship, the Brits are currently enduring. A new government there is not enough. They need a complete overhaul of their entire political structure from the top down, with a robust constitution and the ability to get rid of rogue governments and call an election, if enough people express dissatisfaction.
We need to be careful here too. Looking at the constant attempts to remove peoples basic rights, anyone voting for Labour or National, in my view, is letting their country down, big time.
