India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following four days of deadly missile, drone, and air strikes that killed at least 60 and displaced thousands, especially in the disputed Kashmir region.
The surprise announcement came from US President Donald Trump via Truth Social, who credited “common sense” and praised both sides after American-led mediation overnight.
Officials from both nations confirmed the agreement, effective from 5pm local time, but explosions were later reported in Srinagar, raising doubts about its durability.
The conflict had erupted after a deadly terror attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based militants—a charge Islamabad denied.
Despite initial relief and international praise for the truce, local residents remain wary, and mutual accusations over drone losses and military action continue.
