Inquest begins into Christchurch murder by paroled convicted rapist

Joseph Brider news
Joseph Brider.

An inquest has opened into the murder of Juliana Herrera, a Colombian woman brutally killed in her Christchurch flat in January 2022 by neighbour Joseph Brider, a convicted rapist released on parole 72 days earlier.

Despite strict monitoring conditions, Brider became obsessed with Herrera and murdered her after a prolonged physical and sexual assault.

Reviews found the Parole Board’s decision to release Brider was “reasonable” at the time, and Corrections’ staff actions did not directly cause the crime.

The Pathway Trust, which helped “reintegrate” Brider, was cleared of wrongdoing.

The inquest will examine pre- and post-release management and whether better systems could prevent future tragedies.

  1. Psychopaths are experts at hiding their true intentions, in order to gain the trust of the parole boards.
Once out, this is what happens!!!
And it seems to be repeating…
Maybe a polygraph test with an EEG print-out are required at no less than once a week for three weeks, along with voice-print profiling before releasing on parole. Sodium Penethol (Truth Serum) may also be required.
Parolees should be living in supervised halfway houses anyway…
