Israel has carried out large-scale airstrikes in central Tehran and other parts of Iran, targeting infrastructure in an escalation that comes as the United States considers sending thousands more troops to the region.
Iranian authorities said several civilian buildings were hit, with emergency crews responding in Tehran, Qom and Urmia.
Donald Trump said negotiations with Tehran were “going very well” and delayed potential US strikes on Iranian energy facilities, while reports indicate the Pentagon is weighing the deployment of up to 10,000 additional ground troops, adding to forces already en route. US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said efforts would continue to “negotiate with bombs.”
Iran has denied holding direct talks with Washington and set its own conditions for any ceasefire, rejecting US terms and warning of retaliation against regional energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said Russia maintains close ties with Iran but does not share intelligence, noting US military base locations in the region are widely known.

I wonder how Israel is still able to fly sorties. With the missiles Iran has, I would’ve thought airfields and runways would be high on the target list, and by now those would be unusable.
Seems strange to me. The carriers moved away. Are the Israeli airforce using vtol in their F-35’s from unknown locations?
They may well be using US bases and carriers to launch attacks. It may be too, they are operating from outside Israel. It could also be that Iran’s missiles have not been that effective against military targets that are well protected. Planes too, can be flown out of incoming danger zones, should say, a incoming missile attack, be picked up by the Israeli’s on an airfield.
You can fly any fighter out of a highway, with hangars/hide-outs disguised as a barn.
This is going to end very badly for everyone and by everyone I mean the whole globe. This war could spread beyond the region. Its clear too, the US thinks it can launch a ground invasion, as they are gradually accumulating military assets in the region. It will be a blood bath that will see countless soldiers returning in body bags. Global war, civil wars, food impoverishment, economic collapse and more are all possibilities. Dark times ahead if this doesn’t end soon.
Who might actually want the war to stop?
Would the Russians want the war to stop when they make heaps more money due to the war? https://news-pravda.com/world/2026/03/26/2182844.html
Would Iran want the war to stop when they make heaps more money now during the war? Iran will also keep making more money during peace after the war if they permanently control Strait of Hormuz https://wanaen.com/potential-revenue-of-20-to-100-billion-for-iran-from-the-strait-of-hormuz/
Most countries relying on Strait of Hormuz are getting their oil and gas despite the war; the minority of the world who choose to be hostile against Iran have fuel shortages and want more bombing against Iran therefore worsening these fuel shortages.
Would China want the war to stop when it’s a useful lab experiment with real time data showing what works and what doesn’t work. Also the USA have depleted their missile defenses in the Pacific – to China’s advantage.
Would the American arms manufacturers want the war to stop after recently getting $50billion and they are asking for another $200billion now? https://www.defenseone.com/policy/2026/03/record-smashing-15-trillion-spending-proposal-will-fund-only-most-essential-things-comptroller/412190/
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/03/18/iran-cost-budget-pentagon/
The western world (dependent on debt) has smuch to gain by stopping the war. But they don’t have enough political nor economic clout to get what they want.
U forgot “would israhell want to stop”?
The people in israhell quite likely, but the government would go to trial, and thej are calling the shots, excuse the pun.
You make some excellent points. In the short term I’d say there may be some valid reasons to continue the conflict but if it spreads (and it will) it could see disruption across the region. At that point any ship from anywhere navigating the straight may find it deeply risky and it may be no one will be willing to insure and if they do the cost may be prohibitive. Energy production that is interconnected may also be badly disrupted or even severed. This might look beneficial for some, say Russia but selling anything is predicated on your buyers ability to pay and if nations are in economic collapse that’s hardly likely.
Are there any winners? Well yes, banks who will lend to prop up failing nations at high rates of interest that will take generations to pay back.
All wars are bankers wars.
And who owns the banks?
China would want this war to stop because they prefer a stable and prosperous world which can afford to keep importing Chinese goods. They have more to gain from peace than most countries. They should have collected enough data from the war by now.
The dumb yanks have lost a few landing craft with American casualties while they pretend they want to end the war http://www.tasnimnews.ir/en/news/2026/03/28/3550654/iran-announces-targeting-tactical-vessels-killing-large-number-of-american-terrorists
How will the dumb yanks spin their way out of this one? Will the mainstream media pretend those American terrorists were civilians?
